On August 17, in the framework of the 175th anniversary of the death of General José de San Martín, the Liberator of America, the traditional floral offering was held in Algiers at the monument erected in his honor in this capital.
The ceremony was attended by the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of Peru in Algeria, Cristóbal Melgar Pazos, and the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of Chile in Algeria, Cristóbal Sandoval Agüero, along with the Argentine diplomatic mission headed by its Ambassador, Atilio Berardi. This tribute was paid to the liberating feat that forever united the destinies of Argentina, Chile, and Peru in the common struggle for independence.
This emblematic act evokes the legacy of unity, freedom, and courage that San Martín bequeathed to our shared history, and renews the commitment to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between our sister nations.
