Argentina strengthens ties with the Oran Region

Oran, April 29, 2025 – As part of a busy work agenda, Ambassador Atilio Berardi strengthened bilateral ties with key players in the Oran region, the main economic center of western Algeria, on April 27 and 28 through a series of meetings in the cultural, media, and industrial spheres.

Industrial and Commercial Opportunities
The agenda included a visit to the Stellantis plant in Oran, the most modern in Algeria, where the Ambassador was welcomed by General Manager Raoui Beji and his management team.
During the meeting, the characteristics of the Algerian automotive market and the opportunities it offers for Argentine auto parts companies were analyzed.
In this regard, an action plan was discussed, including international fairs, trade missions for 2026, and a bilateral training seminar scheduled for September of this year.

Cultural Agenda
Ambassador Berardi held a working meeting at the Cervantes Institute in Oran with its director, Juan Manuel Muñoz Cid. The institution is the largest organization dedicated to teaching Spanish in Algeria. As a result of the meeting, an Argentine film series and a photography exhibition were planned for the city this year, initiatives aimed at promoting cultural exchange between the two nations.

Media Cooperation
In the communications field, the Ambassador met with Mohamed Abdou Benabbou, CEO of the leading regional newspaper "Le Quotidien d'Oran." The discussion focused on opportunities for media cooperation and Oran's role as a strategic enclave for relations between Africa and Latin America. With more than one million inhabitants, Oran affirms its position as a natural bridge between the two regions.
