Argentina in Concert: Unforgettable Cultural Evening at the Algiers Opera House

Algiers, May 15, 2026 – On May 14, the Argentine Embassy in Algeria presented "Argentina in Concert" at the majestic Algiers Opera House, before a full house that enjoyed a unique evening dedicated to Argentine music.

What the audience experienced in just a couple of hours was the result of months of work: coordination between distant shores, phone calls, adjustments, and the patience of those who believed in this project from the very beginning. In the days leading up to the concert, rehearsals brought together more than twenty Algerian musicians and three Argentine music artists who dared to find a common rhythm, achieving a high-level artistic synthesis.

Under the direction of Maestro Lotfi Saïdi, the evening featured Belén Mackinlay on vocals, Juan Esteban Cuacci on piano, and Mikael Augustsson on bandoneon. Eighteen pieces spanning tango, folk, and popular Argentine music created an unprecedented dialogue with the Algerian National Symphony Orchestra. The fusion of these two musical worlds generated a moving artistic experience that the audience celebrated.

Algerian authorities, the musicians, the audience that filled every seat, and the Argentine community that was moved alongside the artists all thanked the Argentine Embassy for carrying out this project.

This night will stand as a major chapter in the shared cultural history of Argentina and Algeria, strengthening the bonds of friendship and mutual understanding through art and music.

The "Argentina in Concert" presentation at the Algiers Opera House marks a milestone in the bilateral cultural agenda, demonstrating the power of art as a bridge between nations and cultures
