Constantine, November 18, 2025 – The Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to Algeria, Atilio Berardi, began a series of business meetings in the province of Constantine with Governor Abdelkhaleq Sayouda, with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
Constantine, Algeria's third-largest city and the economic engine of the entire eastern region of the country, represents a strategic market for Argentine commercial interests. During the meeting, priority sectors for bilateral cooperation were identified.
Sectors of Opportunity for Argentine Companies
Pharmaceutical Sector
Constantine is positioned as a strategic hub for laboratories and healthcare technology, presenting opportunities for Argentine medical equipment and technological developments.
Agribusiness
Given that Algeria imports approximately 70% of its food and that Constantine serves as a distribution center, opportunities arise for the export of Argentine dairy, meat, and citrus products.
Logistics
As the main logistics hub in eastern Algeria, with access to the country's most important ports, the province offers opportunities for foreign trade and distribution services to enter the Algerian market and neighboring countries such as Tunisia and Libya.
Technology
Within the framework of the ambitious digital transformation plan promoted by the Algerian government, opportunities exist for software, fintech, and biotechnology solutions developed in Argentina.
Tourism and Culture
Constantine's rich historical heritage and the appreciation for Argentine culture create opportunities for cultural exchanges, film festivals, and gastronomic events.
As a result of the meeting, it was agreed to coordinate trade delegations and participation in international trade fairs to capitalize on the identified opportunities. As a gesture of friendship and cultural affinity, Ambassador Berardi presented the Governor with a handcrafted alpaca box from Jujuy, a piece that represents the richness and talent of the artisans of the province of Jujuy.
