Ambassador Atilio Berardi Meets with Algerian Veterinary Services

Algiers, September 16, 2025 – As part of the Argentine Embassy's ongoing market development initiatives in Algeria, Ambassador Atilio Berardi held a working meeting with Mr. Abdellatif Addou, Director of Algeria's Veterinary Services. The meeting aimed to identify new opportunities for Argentine agricultural products in the Algerian market.

Held at the headquarters of the Algerian Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, the meeting was attended by officials from the Economic and Commercial Section of the Argentine Embassy. The Algerian delegation included Dr. Asma Ghalmi, Deputy Director of Food Security and Border Control, alongside other technical representatives.

The delegations discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral trade, with a particular focus on negotiating health certificates to facilitate market access for Argentine products. Both parties agreed to relaunch a bilateral cooperation agenda for agriculture, which will promote the exchange of knowledge and best practices between their respective health services.

The Algerian market continues to solidify its position as a strategic destination for Argentine exports. It has historically been Argentina's primary trading partner in Africa and ranks among the top global destinations for Argentine goods.

As a direct outcome of this meeting, the parties will establish specialized technical roundtables to advance the negotiation of health protocols. A joint work agenda is also being developed, which will include technical missions and specialist exchanges.
