Agroindustrial Cooperation: Argentina strengthens trade ties with Algerian food industry leader

Algiers, October 15, 2025 – The Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to Algeria, Atilio Berardi, along with the Embassy's Commercial Section team, made a working visit to SOPI-MAMA, a company recognized as a leader in the production of flour, pasta, and couscous in the Algerian market. The meeting allowed for the exploration of new bilateral trade and investment opportunities in the agroindustrial sector.

During the meeting with the President of SOPI-MAMA, Réda Hachelaf, who also serves as Vice President of CREA (Algeria's Economic Renewal Council), important opportunities for bilateral cooperation were identified. Among the main topics discussed were the reactivation of Argentine legume imports, the supply of wheat and semolina for local production, and the development of large-scale agricultural investment projects in southern Algeria using Argentine technology.

Shared Visions and Collaboration Models
The dialogue allowed for the analysis of partnership models for the provision of agricultural machinery and services, as well as sustainable agriculture projects with integrated infrastructure. The discussions also explored the possibilities for Argentine companies in terms of technology transfer and the provision of specialized services for the Algerian agro-industrial sector.

Implementation Strategy
As a result of the meeting, it was agreed to move forward with the implementation of specific investment projects and the strengthening of supply chains between the two countries. The Argentine Embassy will facilitate the necessary contacts and provide institutional support to realize the opportunities identified during the meeting.

This visit reinforces the Argentine Embassy's commitment to promoting bilateral agro-industrial cooperation, positioning Argentine companies as strategic partners for the development of the Algerian agricultural and agro-industrial sector.
