Argentina Present with Its Own Booth at Africa's Main Agribusiness Fair

Algiers, May 21, 2026 – The Republic of Argentina actively took part in the 24th edition of the International Exhibition of Agriculture, Livestock and Agri-Food Industries (SIPSA-FILAHA), held at the Algiers Exhibition Palace from May 18 to 21.
For the first time, the country had its own institutional booth, reflecting the growing interest of Argentine companies in sectors such as agricultural mechanization, livestock technologies, and the agri-food industry.

A Continental Event
This edition of SIPSA-FILAHA brought together 850 national and international exhibitors from 40 countries, with Egypt, Niger, and Mauritania as guests of honor. A total of 247 international brands took part, and attendance was expected to exceed 40,000 professional visitors across 35,000 square meters of exhibition space. Running alongside the fair were the 5th edition of Africa Food Export, the 11th edition of Djazaqua (dedicated to sustainable fishing), and the 2nd edition of the Oliomad national competition for the best extra virgin olive oil.

Innovation and Strategic Alignment
The fair concluded with the 6th edition of the "Africa Sipsa-Innov - Sid Ahmed Ferroukhi" Agricultural Innovation Award, which recognized seven projects selected from nearly one hundred participating startups in the categories of agricultural, food, and fisheries technologies. The organization's focus on the local agri-food innovation ecosystem strengthens the alignment between the strategic goals of the Algerian authorities and the areas where Argentine suppliers have proven capabilities: biotechnology, animal health, genetics, and precision farming.

Strategic Alliance between Biolab Vétérinaire and Biogénesis Bagó
During the fair, the Argentine Embassy held a working meeting with representatives of the Algerian company BIOLAB Vétérinaire, which has recently been appointed as the representative of the Argentine company Biogénesis Bagó in the Algerian market.
BIOLAB Vétérinaire specializes in importing and distributing veterinary pharmaceutical products from internationally renowned laboratories, as well as producing mineral-vitamin supplements for animal nutrition locally under its own brand, BIOMIX.
The Embassy also took part in the launch event for the strategic alliance between BIOLAB Vétérinaire and Biogénesis Bagó. This milestone strengthens Argentine veterinary biotechnology's presence in the Algerian market and opens up concrete opportunities for cooperation on animal health — an area identified as a priority by Algerian authorities as they work to strengthen food sovereignty and restore the country's national genetic heritage.

Argentina's participation in SIPSA-FILAHA 2026 provides a solid platform to explore new areas of economic cooperation with Algeria in the agricultural sector, at a time when the host country is seeking to boost its food security through modernization, technological innovation, and the development of its own resources.

Following the institutional links established with the Argentine Rural Society (La Rural S.A.), a strategic videoconference was held in March between the authorities of SIPSA-FILAHA and representatives of La Rural. The goal was to explore future visits and bilateral missions, and to move toward a cooperation agreement between the two fair organizations.
This dialogue, which responds to the mutual interest shown in previous meetings, will help build a joint agenda to promote the agribusiness sector and open new paths for the exchange of knowledge, technology, and business opportunities between Argentina and Algeria.
