Argentina and Algeria Deepen Agricultural Cooperation

Algiers, April 29, 2026 – The Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to Algeria, Atilio Berardi, held a working meeting with Algeria's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Yacine Mehdi Oualid, aimed at strengthening the bilateral agenda in strategic sectors for both countries' agro-industrial development.

Progress on Sanitary and Trade Issues
During the meeting, they discussed key topics for bilateral trade, including the management of sanitary certificates for exporting Argentine sheep and dairy products, as well as concrete steps to make it easier for the Algerian market to buy Argentine goods. These advances mark a significant step toward opening and consolidating new trade channels.

The officials agreed to relaunch bilateral agricultural cooperation. This will include knowledge exchange programs, technology transfer, and the adoption of best practices in farming and livestock production. The initiative will help both countries take advantage of their complementary strengths in the sector.

Algeria continues to solidify its position as Argentina's main trading partner in Africa and a strategic destination for Argentine agro-industrial exports.

This meeting is another step forward in positioning Argentina as a key supplier of food and agro-industrial technology in Algeria and North Africa, especially given the region's growing demand for food security.
